We invite you to our Wild Ones Greater Cleveland monthly chapter meeting!
Educational Topic: Protecting the Jewels of the Night: How You Can Support Fireflies
The presentation will cover the firefly life cycle, physiology, and diversity, as well as firefly habitat needs and the environmental threats contributing to declines in abundance. We will also discuss what people can do to support healthy populations of our iconic “jewels of the night!”
Speaker: Cat Miller
Cat is retired and has moved on to a new “career” as an aspiring amateur naturalist and a Master Gardener with a passion for native flora and fauna. She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and earned undergraduate degrees from Case Western Reserve University in German and History and from Cleveland State University in Vocal Performance. She moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2001 where she spent almost two decades following her heart as a singer-songwriter by night and earning her living as an Office Manager by day. She currently resides in a hundred-year-old house in Cleveland Heights with her husband, two rescue dogs, a cat, and four chickens, and is in the process of converting as much of the property as possible into pollinator and wildlife habitat. When she is not gardening, she enjoys spending time hiking, biking, birding, and learning about all things Nature!
