“Soft landings” shade gardens are planted at the base of a native tree, where they allow butterfly and moth caterpillars to complete their lifecycle in the leaf litter without the threat of lawnmowers.

Wild Ones has worked with regional designers to make free native garden designs available to the public! Check them out here. We recommend sticking with the designs east of the Rocky Mountains. Most of the plants included in those designs are native to Ohio and hardy in our region.
