Gather around the bonfire with fellow nature enthusiasts as we celebrate the beauty and importance of native plants. Enjoy an evening of casual conversations about how native flora can restore local ecosystems and support wildlife.

This relaxed and informative event is perfect for all ages—whether you're a seasoned gardener or simply curious about the power of native plants. 

Come for the warmth of the fire, stay for the wisdom of nature! Free and open to the public—bring a chair and a friend.

Interested in learning about native plants and seed collection?

Wild Ones Greater Cleveland and Oberlin Preserve are teaming up to provide you this FREE educational hands-on workshop on native plant seed collection.

Come and collect seeds for your garden or donate the seeds to collect to Wild Ones Greater Cleveland for future community activities and projects!

This is a great opportunity to start the sequence of collecting, cleaning, packaging and winter sowing. 

Logistics:

-Bring paper bags or small envelopes to collect seeds and dress for some off trail walking.  

-Parking for several cars on site, with overflow parking a short walk away at the sports complex.
-Restrooms are also available at the sports complex.

Gather native seeds, take home free native plants (you'll need to dig them!), and enjoy a community potluck with fellow native plant lovers.

Garden gloves/shovel/trowel (for digging up native plants); may also want to protect your truck with a garbage bag liner and/or bring some grocery bags for carrying home your native plants

A few cars can park in the driveway and additional parking is available on Crosby Street, just south of the house.

Bats are among the most important and misunderstood wildlife in our communities. Join experts from Bat Conservation International to explore how native plants, healthy insect populations, and thoughtful landscape design can help support bats. Learn about the ecological role of bats and discover practical ways to create habitat for North America's night flyers right in your own backyard.

Itinerary:

-First: Witness the planting of two Dwarf Serviceberry trees in a pocket garden.  The two trees will resemble hope, respite, a mother's unconditional love, and serve as a beacon and honor to a beloved daughter who was lost this year. 

-Second: Lend a hand to install native plants to create a stunning pocket garden with successional blooms from spring through fall to create food and shelter for a diversity of species. Over time, the trees should grow alongside one another creating a unified canopy and the understory plants will fill in to create a beautiful soft landing garden underneath.

This quick and easy volunteer opportunity is perfect for anyone who wants to spend an hour doing good, learning about native plants, and helping bring a thoughtful landscape design to life. The garden's designer will be on-site to share insights about the design process and answer questions along the way.

This event is hosted by Diab Dar-Issa, WOGC Cuyahoga County Regional Coordinator - Westside, and WOGC Community Garden Chair and owner of Paradise Natives, Antonio Zodda.

Wild Ones Greater Cleveland and Friends of Impett Park are teaming up to provide you this FREE educational hands-on workshop on native plant seed collection.

We'll be collecting seeds from the 3000 sq ft native wetland garden and other sites as seed is available at this time.  

This is a great opportunity to start the sequence of collecting, cleaning, packaging and winter sowing.

Logistics:
-Bring paper bags or small envelopes to collect seeds and dress for some off trail walking.  
-Wear appropriate shoes/boots as it can get muddy, and wear clothes in preparation for some potential off-trail walking. 
-Costumes are also welcome (though beware of mud). 
-We will have snacks, cider & leftover candy from Halloween (and you are welcome to bring yours to share).
-We'll also have a craft for kids!

Possible seeds you might be able to get: 
-Swamp rose mallow, Swamp milkweed, Cardinal flower, White turtlehead, Blue flag iris, Buttonbush, Joe pye weed, Golden alexander, Dogbane, Tall Goldenrod, Ironweed

Wild Ones of Greater Cleveland is teaming up with Stark Parks f to offer this cost-effective, low-maintenance way to add native plants to your landscape!

Winter sowing is an outdoor seed-starting technique that requires just two things: miniature greenhouses and Mother Nature! It is one of the most cost-effective ways to add native plants to your landscape. All supplies will be provided for participants to create a mini greenhouse of native plants to take home.
