Educational Topic: Mussels to Creeks
Dramatic changes have occurred throughout the watershed of the Cuyahoga River since it last burned in 1969. Some of these changes have improved the condition of the river and some of them haven't. Chris will be presenting a brief background on the history of Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Cuyahoga River and then will discuss some of the ongoing issues and opportunities associated with the river at the park.
Speaker: Chris Davis, Plant Ecologist Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Chris was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, before moving to California to study biology at Occidental College in Los Angeles followed by a graduate program at San Diego State University. Chris has worked as a biologist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the National Park Service. Chris currently works as the plant ecologist at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, where his main responsibilities include managing invasive plants, reforesting disturbed sites, and restoring streams and wetlands.
